 New Horizons Foundation (FUNHO), a non-profit institution, registered in the state of New York, with the registration of ……..- It was created in Cabarete, Puerto Plata, R.D in the month of May 2005.

During our childhood we witnessed situations of lack that affected many people. Difficulty in educating, eating, accessing basic health, even recreating. The great desire was always how to contribute to the solutions of these evils. Decades later living in the Dominican Republic, a country that shares the Spanish island with Haiti, I had to live very closely the harsh reality of the lack of many people, both Dominican and Haitian.

The impact of that reality was so strong that it motivated me and a group of friends to start the social and humanitarian work of the Nuevo Horizonte Foundation.

The name was given to understand that the future of the people and their community must be changed in a positive way by accompanying the population in education, recreation, food, health, etc.

The first years of our work have been concentrated in the town of Islabón and Cabarete, and then we moved to the community of Pancho Mateo, Montellano. Creating our training center, offering the community a space where they can receive the bread of teaching and receive food, all free of charge.

New Horizons was a pioneer with the practice and development of soccer in the community where we have adapted several physical spaces to the practice of this sport and formed several children's teams, which for them was a moment of glory, for being able to leave the stadium for the first time. “batey” to be able to go compete with children from Cabarete and other towns.
